Salt & Pepper

In these still life photographs I use inanimate objects as characters to act out stories using placement, inclusion, and emphasis. I am fascinated by the complexity of human relationships and I draw on the emotional life within and around me for inspiration. The narratives I see reflect a voracious visual appetite that demands repetition, duplication, and substitution. Meanwhile the characters are concerned with a search for self and a desire for a sense of belonging. Through my creative process each composition becomes a safe place for secrets and unearthed desires to show themselves in a newly found vessel. Through my work I am searching for a reflection that rings true. I feel these anthropomorphic visions are to be understood in the eye of the beholder, and most often, the stories I see are my own. 2019
